Bodies of work

Projects

Curated collections grouped by subject and place. Full stories and image sets are being added one project at a time.

"It is never the subject. It is the light on it. And something in me that has no name."

I return to the same themes. Some weeks. Some years. It was never the subject. It was the light on a surface. The texture. The shape of a thing. These reach something under the thinking part of the mind. I do not try to record what is in front of the camera. I try to reach what is quieter than that. That is the purity of photography. No other medium does this.

A project here is not a finished thing. It is a collection. A theme. A thread that runs through the work. Think of it like a score. The big images and the quiet ones need each other. Together they say more than one frame can say alone. Nothing below is finished. These are works in progress. More fragile than that word says. I have come to believe the flaws belong. They do not weaken the work. They make it stronger.
